Jose Benito Escobar Primary School
Jose Benito Escobar Primary School, Matagalpa, Nicaragua
This is the Costa Foundation’s first school project in Nicaragua built in partnership with Fundacion Nicafrance and ECOM. Building work started in March 2015 to construct two multi-grade classrooms, two single classrooms, a library, admin block and a cafeteria. Sanitation, play equipment, fresh water and electricity have also been provided to ensure that the 110 children using the facilities can have a safe, quality education. The school was officially opened on 6th August 2015 and was a joyous celebration for the whole community with singing and dancing from the children enjoyed by all.
To ensure that the children had access to top quality learning aids, a partnership between the Costa Foundation and the Zamora Teran Foundation (to learn more click here) resulted in the provision of 90 XO computers which have been gratefully accepted by the school and have been a huge hit with the children.
