Kilenso Mokonisa Preparatory School
Kilenso Mokonisa Preparatory School, Ethiopia
This is the Costa Foundations first investment in a preparatory school which is equivalent to A Levels in the UK, specifically for 17 and 18 year olds. Having funded 18 high schools in Ethiopia to alleviate lack of high school facilities for primary school leavers, the Board recognised that the same applies to high school leavers. This will be the first of many investments in preparatory schools in the next few years.
This school was funded through the generosity of Cherrytree Bakery and is their second investment in a new school in Ethiopia, after the opening of Shifo High School in 2015. The school was inaugurated by Cherrytree Bakery in October 2018 and the event included an emotional visit to a classroom full of students who shared with us how important these new facilities are to them.
The school has 8 fully furnished classrooms, 3 science labs and new sanitation and sits within the grounds of Kilenso Mokonisa High School, funded by the Costa Foundation.
