Mazaronquiari Nursery School
Mazaronquiari Nursery School, Pangoa, Peru
Our delivery partner in Peru "Prodelsur" renovated the primary school here in 2012 and identified the need for good quality nursery school facilities. The Ministry of Education identified that there were 120 children aged 3-6 within the community yet only 65 children were having preschool lessons which were being held in one of the farmers huts.
The Costa Foundation were approached in March 2014 with a proposal to build a self contained nursery school, fully equipped and with sufficient space for the children to play, eat their lunches and take their afternoon nap.
This is a truly indigenous native community and many of the parents turned up to meet one of our Trustees to explain how beneficial these facilities have become for their children. The design of this new school is cleverly considered, enabling the colourful side panels of the classroom to drop down and be used as tables for the children to eat their school dinners. Our thanks go to Marta Maccaglia who was the architect and project manager for this wonderful school project.
