Mesay Kassaye Dano High School
Mesay Kassaye Dano High School, SNNP Region, Ethiopia
Situated some 497km South of Addis Ababa in Amaro District, SNNP Region, this 8 classroom high school opened in September 2018 and has the facilities for 960 children when at full capacity. The project includes a library, sanitation, water, reference books plus the usual school clubs focusing on gender equality, environment, health, sports and public speaking for girls.
Due to the continuing civil unrest in Ethiopia the Costa Foundation has been unable to inaugurate this school which is now planned for the early summer of 2019.
We are proud to announce that the community and local authorities at Dano Parish decided to name this school the Mesay Kassaye Dano High School in memory of our dear Country Director who sadly passed away in October 2017. This seems such a fitting memory for such an extraordinary man.
“Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.”
