Day of the Girl
Girls continue to be the single most discriminated against and excluded group in the world. On the 11th October the Costa Foundation will stand with Plan International to celebrate the achievements of girls everywhere – and highlight the urgent change we need to make happen, to end gender inequality for good.

Happy Birthday to us!
2017 marks the 10th Birthday of the Costa Foundation, and what better way to celebrate than a sing-song with hundreds of children from Costa Foundation schools!
Costa Foundation Fundraising Fortnight
The Costa Foundation is fortunate to have one of the most engaged and enthusiastic fundraising teams in the UK. Between the 21st August and the 3rd September over 15,000 Costa employees will be putting their efforts behind the “Costa Foundation Fundraising Fortnight” in over 2000 stores across the length and breadth of the UK. Visit your local store to take part in the fun and learn more about our work in coffee-growing communities around the world.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support.
Costa Twilight Walk
On Wednesday 30th August hundreds of people all over the country will be taking part in the first Costa Twilight walk, a 10km nationwide sponsored charity walk for the Costa Foundation. The number ten holds a great significance this year as it marks the Costa Foundation's 10 Year Anniversary, whilst 10km is the distance that many children have to walk to get to school in many remote coffee growing communities across the world.
There will be multiple walks taking place nationwide, all starting at a local Costa store, with each route being designed to showcase the local scenery during the twilight hours.
If you'd like to take part or sponsor the walkers then please visit the website below for further information:
Child marriage abolished in Honduras
Lawmakers in Honduras have voted unanimously to ban child marriage, making it illegal in the Central American nation for children under the age of 18 to get married under any circumstances. This is fantastic news, not just for the students in our schools but for all of the coffee growing communities in Honduras and beyond. For more information click here
Mesay Kassaye; our amazing Country Director in Ethiopia has recently picked up an award for the Costa Foundation at a government event attended by 380 participants in the Segen Zone of Ethiopia’s Southern Region. The award was in recognition of the charities excellence and impacts in education in rural Ethiopia.
Congratulations Mesay; this is a fitting tribute to all of your hard work on our behalf and is richly deserved.

We are proud to share with you that at the Better Society Awards held on May 11th 2017; the Costa Foundation won the “Highly Commended Award” for our "Partnership with an International Charity" which recognised our relationship with PEAS UK & PEAS Uganda. “One School at a Time” – the Costa Foundation song
Roger Williams, a brilliantly talented Costa customer from Hucknall, has written and performed a song for the Costa Foundation. “One School at a Time” is wonderfully up-beat and talks about the work we do all over the world and the children that we have helped access an education. We love this song, and hope you do to! Click here to listen to the song
Sophie Brown is doing something truly wonderful. She is walking around the entire perimeter of Wales (that's 1,034 miles!) to raise money for the Costa Foundation, a charity close to her heart. We are so proud of Sophie, and will be following her progress all the way.

We're celebrating International Women's Day on March 8th with our partner Plan International UK, working together to ensure girls are not discriminated against just for being girls. New concept school in Honduras
Working with Plan International the Costa Foundation is delighted to have funded an innovative new school in La Paz, Honduras. The IHER Education Centre provides education for children that, due to family poverty, have no option but to work during the week to support their families. These school facilities enable children who desperately want an education to home-study during the evenings as well as attend the IHER Centre for formal lessons during the weekend. Our 60th school project
It is ironic that Anatoli primary school in La Mesa, Cundinamarca, Colombia was the 60th Costa Foundation funded school project to be opened around the world, as it was also the first. This school project was part funded by the efforts of over 100 Costa employees who took part in the 10th Costa Foundation 3 Peaks event in June 2016. For more information click here. Costa Foundations first school in Zambia
The trustees have recently approved the first Costa Foundation school project in Zambia. This will be the first public private partnership (PPP) school in Zambia which will open its doors to 200 children in February 2018. The PPP agreement between PEAS and the Zambian government means that these schools will be sustainable from day 1 as the government will be paying a per student subsidy.
PEAS and the Costa Foundation are aiming to open a cluster of PPP schools over the next 10 years in the northern province of Zambia where the coffee is grown.
The below infogram shows the impact that the Costa Foundation funded PEAS schools in Uganda are achieving, a performance that we are keen to replicate in Zambia in the future.
