Project

Jose Benito Escobar Primary School

This was the Costa Foundation’s first school project in Nicaragua, built in partnership with the Fundacion Nicafrance and ECOM.

Building work started in March 2015 to construct two multi-grade classrooms, two single classrooms, a library, administration block and a cafeteria. Sanitation, play equipment, fresh water and electricity have also been provided, to ensure that the 110 children using the facilities have a safe, quality education.

The school was officially opened on 6th August 2015 and it was a joyous celebration for the whole community, with singing and dancing from the children.

To ensure that children had access to top quality learning aids, a partnership between the Costa Foundation and the Zamora Teran Foundation resulted in the provision of 90 XO computers which have been a huge hit with the children.
