Heart story

Nguyen Thi Hue's story

The head teacher at Ea Nam Kindergarten talks about what the investment by the Costa Foundation has meant for their local community and how she is truly proud to work at such an amazing school.

My name is Nguyen Thi Hue and I’m 36 years old. I’m the head teacher at Ea Nam Kindergarten in Eah’leo District of Dak Lak Province, Vietnam.

I wanted to work for the Costa school because it has such great facilities and teachers. I’ve worked here for about six months, and I really love it: we have great kids and teachers and provide the best conditions for everyone to learn and work in.

Working here is much better, because this school has great standards and conditions and our facilities meet the demands of everyone here. We have smart TVs with internet in each classroom, which help keep the students happy and interested and helps the teachers as well.

What makes me most proud though, is that parents are happy to send their children here, which has resulted in us being the biggest nursery school in our district, with about 240 students.

This school has impacted our community hugely. Now the children have a safe and clean place to spend the day learning, while their parents are working and focusing on earning money each day. Before the school opened, a lot of kids had to go to work with their parents or spend the day at home with their grandparents.

I was a teacher for 10 years before moving to the Costa school and my dream has always been for our district to have a great school to work in. I attended many meetings with the local authorities to push for a good school like this one to open, and last year my dream came true.

My dreams now are for the Costa school to continue to develop more so that we can add more classrooms and more children in the future. So far, about 127 children have graduated from this school.

I would like to say a special thank you to the Costa Foundation, in particular Piers Blake, and I promise that we will continue to develop our school in the best way we can.”
